As of this writing, Marie Antoinette’s Rose Diamond that was passed down through her daughter’s family line will go to auction in June at CHRISTIES (see the full history). The jewel was re-designed with a dark platinum setting using the “FLEUR DE LIS” a French Royal insignia. Jewels and royalty have always been mentioned together in the history books. Marie Antoinette’s jewelry adventures are legendary. Historians have wrongly claimed they changed history, itself. Some of her personal jewels did escape from France as this piece did. The crowns jewels of France, are, almost non-existent but some do re-surface from time to time to tempt us with their unusual history.
